Two attacks of transient global amnesia within a year: a case report
نویسنده
چکیده
INTRODUCTION Transient global amnesia is a classical disease. It presents with an abrupt onset of anterograde amnesia. It's incidence and recurrence rate is low. CASE PRESENTATION In this case report a 54-year old white male is presented with two attacks of loss of memory within a year. CONCLUSION Recurrent transient global amnesia is rare. Recognition and explaining the good nature of the symptoms to the patient and their families is an important task for the doctor.

Transient epileptic amnesia secondary to hippocampal dysplasia mimicking transient global amnesia
Transient epileptic amnesia (TEA) is a recently recognized subtype of temporal lobe epilepsy. TEA is characterized by brief, recurrent attacks of amnesia in late middle to old-aged subjects, averaging 60 years of age [1,2]. In nearly half the cases, patients complain of long term accelerated forgetting and autobiographical memory impairment in 70% [2]. Bartsch and Butler proposed diagnostic cri...
متن کاملNeurosyphilis showing transient global amnesia-like attacks and magnetic resonance imaging abnormalities mainly in the limbic system.
We report a case of neurosyphilis with transient global amnesia (TGA)-like attacks on the first presentation. MRI abnormalities in bilateral limbic systems, including a few lesions in the basal ganglia and thalamus, were identified. Depression and dementia became apparent, accompanied by a high treponemal antibody titer and mild cortical atrophy. Antisyphilitic therapy brought about mild improv...
متن کاملTransient global amnesia in four brothers.
The case histories are described of four brothers who suffered attacks of transient global amnesia. The coincidence of this disorder in four siblings suggests that the causative factors in transient global amnesia may have a familial basis and that its incidence is more common than generally realised.
متن کاملSubarachnoid hemorrhage after transient global amnesia caused by cerebral venous congestion: case report.
BACKGROUND Transient global amnesia is reported to be caused by cerebral venous congestion. Internal jugular venous flow reversal in particular with the Valsalva maneuver leads to cerebral venous congestion. In addition, Valsalva maneuver can also induce subarachnoid hemorrhage. Transient global amnesia and subarachnoid hemorrhage might have common a pathophysiology in cerebral venous congestio...

The case of a previously healthy 69-year-old female patient is described who presented, in a period of 6 months, 3 long-lasting (from 2 hour- to 10 hour-duration) episodes of transient global amnesia accompanied by a temperature rise. During one of these episodes an EEG was obtained, showing a diffuse alteration, focal slowing, and bitemporal asynchronous paroxysmal activity giving rise to elec...
